The Timber Trade & Saw Mill Industries was started during the year 1916, by a great businessman & Philanthropist Mr. Venkataramana Setty of Hunsur town, in Mysore District. 

S L V the trusted name in timber for over nine decades 

In the pre independence period the trade was done with the co-operation of Mr. Peter Hay a Britisher. Mr. S. L. V. Lakshman Gupta the second son of Mr. Venkataramana Setty took over the reign, during 1941. Until 1945 the timber logs were transported to Hunsur from forest by bullock and buffalo carts and later it was done by his own lorries. He was noted for his master mind and was a great entrepreneur. During 1955 he renamed the saw mills at Hunsur as S .L . V. Saw Mills. He visualised the need of Bangaloreans and to cater to their needs he started a branch in the name of S. L. V. Saw Mills & Wood Industries, at # 325, Mysore Road, Bangalore - 560 039 in the year 1962. S. L. V. Gupta carved a landmark in timber trade and was widely known in south India for Indian Timber.

From 1962 onwards the mantle was taken over by Mr. H. L. Nagendra Gupta and Rama Murthy the Sons of Mr. S. L. V. Lakshman Gupta. Presently Mr. N. Vinay Gupta, M.B.A. is leading the business operations, with latest technology. The dedication and energy that Mr. Vinay Gupta puts into the organisation , has helped the organisation grow multi - fold not only in traditional Logs and Cut - Section business but also into various businesses in Furniture and customised wooden products for various National and Multinational Companies across the globe. Mr. Vinay Gupta has also managed to keep pace with the technology and currently S.L.V. uses few of the best advanced imported machinery, which no other timber merchant in Bangalore is using.
